I attended the writers conference from May 16-19. The intense four day conference, held at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, provided a wide range of writing sessions, workshops, panels, and clinics. I signed up for the continuing session on Advanced Fiction Writing taught by Dave Lambert. The lectures covered so many aspects of creative fiction writing that I sometimes thought I was in a graduate level writing course at a university.
Okay! I guess I need to go back and do more editing on the manuscript of my second book. Scenes, content, sentences, and words can still be improved.
The conference offered several other workshops and clinics to expand my understanding of publishing, writing, marketing, and platform.
I met with five different editors and agents. During the short one-on-one meetings, I received insights to help me become a better writer and advice on how to promote my book.
As intense as the conference was, there were many times of encouragement to keep writing, and worship services to remind us why we were there. We are called to write, communicate the love of God, and use the power of words inspired by God to impact lives. During meals and breaks, we connected with many other Christian writers with a similar passion.
Rejoice in the Lord, and give your voice, your words, and your craft to him.
