I stare at the mountain I must traverse,
The mountain of hope and purpose.
To reach the top to view the expanse,
will be a climb of challenge—not chance.
While the valley tests our faith, we also face the challenge of climbing to the top of the mountain.
On the journey through the valley and to the top of the mountain, we may need to stop and rest several times. But we must pass through the depths and climb the steep incline if we are to reach the summit. We must trust our guide and keep our eyes focused on the one leading us.
The journey to the top of the mountain is not an easy downhill path.
I thought about the hikes I have taken to the tops of scenic overlooks and dramatic peaks. These hikes were not easy. They required watching every step to make certain my footing was sound. They tensed my muscles and tired my body. I needed to drink a lot of water to keep hydrated. I had to concentrate on my goal: Every upward step will bring me closer to the top. The view from the top has always been worth the climb.
