Reality Races Swiftly Past

Reality races like the hovering wings—
the rapid flutter of a hummingbird.
What is real this moment,
at this very instant, like a fleeting word,
is replaced by another reality
that is gone in the next,
that exists for only another instant
to leave us fully perplexed.

As we struggle with hope or loss,
every experience is part of a greater cause.
In our transitory world of existence;
every small hurt or kindness gives us pause,
as we seek answers to our endless questions
in a world that spins wildly through time and space,
and we wander through our misty moments
seeking to discover our mysterious place.

We search the endless depths of our world,
but if our realities are to transcend
the beating wings of hummingbirds,
faith must bridge the chasm to ascend,
from hopelessness to continuity,
from endless momentary realities
to eternal hope in the meaning of all our moments
as they are bound by God’s possibilities.

On the basis of an everlasting relationship,
we have been extended the thread of continuity,
through the creativity of the eternal love of God,
the source and mover of all reality.
To connect all the millions and billions of passing moments,
He burst through in an instant of space and time,
of hope over eternal oblivion in endless fleeting realities,
into a continuity of a final declaration of order and rhyme.

The moments join together into perpetual change—
the passing realities, the temporary instants,
come together into a continuity of diversity,
bound together in the end by the constants,
that all these transitory realities in our lives
join the ultimate purpose of God above;
every breath of our life somehow fits
God’s call to respond to Jesus in His eternal love.
